BIRT has been created to provide two advanced components, a report designer based on Eclipse, and a runtime component that allows you to edit reports at any stage and preview them before finalising them. Once the data in your report is ready, you have a wide range of options for presenting it; tables, charts, text and more. BIRT allows you to add a rich variety of reports to your ERP system, starting with lists of data and working right up to a whole host of charts in visual format, such as a dashboard. Lists of data can increase in length and become unmanageable, but with BIRT you can add grouping to organise related data together. In this way data can be grouped by customer, products, supplier etc. When creating reports of numeric information, where they are best presented as a chart, BIRT allows you to preview your report at any time before outputting as a graphical chart.
